Just a few days ago Hyundai silently launched the Grand i10 automatic with a petrol engine as was expected from the automaker. Now the country’s second largest carmaker is expected to rollout an automatic version for the diesel powered Grand i10 on December 5th. This move will make the Grand i10 the cheapest diesel automatic car in India. Insiders reveal that the company has commenced production of the diesel automatic. The dealerships will receive the initial batches by the end of November.
Hyundai India will launch the Grand i10 diesel automatic in December but sales will commence from January 2014. Just like the petrol automatic, the diesel automatic will be offered with Sportz and Asta high end trims. The diesel powered Grand i10 features a 3-cylinder, 1.1-litre engine that produces 71 PS of maximum power with 160 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be mated to the same 4-speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency is expected to see a slight drop compared to the manual version. The pricing of the diesel automatic is expected between Rs. 7.5 to Rs. 9.5 lakhs.
The price positioning of the Grand i10 diesel automatic will make it touch the territory of higher segments but it will be the ideal choice for people seeking convenience with low running costs in congested city traffic conditions. The Grand i10 petrol automatic is priced at Rs. 5.95 lakhs for the Sportz trim and Rs. 6.23 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the range topping Asta trim. The Grand i10 has received an overwhelming response in the Indian market and is the company’s highest selling model currently.
