You read it first on MotorBeam. BMW Motorrad’s GS family consists of enduro motorcycles that are suitable for both rough terrains and smooth tarmac. One of the capable machines in the family is the BMW F 700 GS. The F 700 GS is the successor to the F 650 GS, which has been discontinued globally but still on sale in India. The difference between the two is the power output, styling and suspension setup. The F 700 GS is a versatile machine that comes equipped with advance technology, which keeps the motorcycle safe and sturdy. BMW Motorrad will launch the F 700 GS in India in December, pricing it at around Rs. 13 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
On the styling front, the BMW F 700 GS looks macho with its rugged design elements of an enduro motorcycle. The muscular fuel tank, front fender, twin headlights and a beefy exhaust adds to the visual appeal of the 700. The BMW F 700 GS is powered by a water-cooled, 4-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder, 798cc engine that produces a maximum power output of 75 BHP at 7300 RPM with a peak torque of 77 Nm at 5300 RPM, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Due to the bike being less than 800cc in displacement, the company has to get it homologated before putting it on sale in India. The process is already underway.
The BMW F 700 GS has a top speed of 192 km/hr and returns a claimed fuel mileage of 25.64 km/l. The suspension setup consists of 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear with 170 mm of travel. Some of the safety and convenience features on the F 700 GS include standard ABS and optional equipment such as Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and heated grips. It is available in three colour options – red, grey and silver.
