Honda has unveiled the Mobilio in Indonesia, which is the Brio based compact MPV. The Japanese automaker has released an official video of the Mobilio, boasting about its style, roomy cabin, flexible cargo space, high ground clearance, powerful engine with low fuel consumption and an affordable price. Just like the Amaze, the front fascia of the Mobilio gets the same Brio face but with significant changes such as a thick chrome grille with a sportier redesigned bumper. The side profile reveals its increased length of 245 mm over the Amaze.
The Honda Mobilio gets a new pattern of alloy wheels and sharp crease lines running across the body. The rear also gets busy styling elements such as the wide tail lamp cluster and the sculpted tailgate with an aggressive bumper design, which looks unconventional because most of the MPVs get simple styling at the rear. The interior styling is in tone with the Amaze and Brio but the Mobilio is a seven seater and it gets an additional third row of seat for two passengers. The Indonesian market gets the Mobilio with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 118 PS of power, mated to 5-speed manual and CVT transmission.
For the Indian market, Honda will offer the Mobilio with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine as well, which made its debut with the Amaze in our country. The i-DTEC mill churns out 100 PS of peak power with 200 Nm of torque. Honda is targeting the segment leading Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with its new offering and similarly the Mobilio will be priced to compete head on with it in the compact MPV segment. We can expect a competitive price tag for the Mobilio with heavy localisation, when it is launched by the middle of next year. Along with the Ertiga, the Mobilio will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Enjoy, Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova and the upcoming Datsun Go+.
