Perhaps there is no vehicle in the Rs. 10 lakh MPV segment that can boast of as much interior room as the Nissan Evalia. However due to its van like looks and basic equipment levels, people refrained from buying the Evalia in the Indian market. Nissan recently updated the Evalia with more features while popular car modifier DC Design has already come out with a interior package for the vehicle. Arguably the Evalia’s external appearance is so plain-jane that even DC Design refrained from touching it.
The DC Lounge Four package for the Nissan Evalia turns the 7-seater MPV into a 6-seater vehicle offering the best of comfort. The front row of seats don’t see a change in position but the rest of them do. The Evalia gets 6 individual seats and the second row of seats are now facing backwards while the last row is pushed all the way back, thereby eating up all the boot space. This liberates a lot of interior room for rear seat passengers. A powered moon-roof has been added as well. No changes seem to be made to the butterfly type windows on the sliding doors.
As usual, DC Design has added quite a few entertainment features along with lots of beige, leather and mood lighting. The front row gets dual tone red and beige treatment which looks a bit too flashy. The steering is finished in dual-tone black and beige and the doors get a mix of beige and red which might not be to everyone’s taste. The DC Lounge package for the Nissan Evalia doesn’t come cheap at Rs. 3.95 lakhs. However if you buy a new Evalia (top-end) and go for these interior modifications, you will still spend less than what you would on a top-end Toyota Innova.
The DC Design Nissan Evalia doesn’t get any mechanical changes and continues to draw power from the proven 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine which produces 85 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The car design firm also offers similar packages for the Toyota Innova, Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra XUV500.
