Mahindra has launched the Xylo D2 MAXX which has the option of 9 seats. This version of the MPV is targeted at tour and travel operators who are ferrying passengers all the time. The rear seats are side facing and the Mahindra Xylo D2 MAXX is available in both BS3 and BS4 versions, priced at Rs. 7.12 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai for the BS3 model). The vehicle is powered by a 2.5-litre mDI CRDe engine which produces 95 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The ARAI certified mileage is 14.95 km/l.
Mahindra claims the Xylo D2’s mDI CRDe engine carries the benefit of both DI and CRDe technology which results in low maintenance costs along with less emissions and NVH levels. The Xylo D2 MAXX comes with the new look front grille and new bumper with air dams which make it look fresh in the market. The automaker is solely going to sell the vehicle in the commercial sector where demand for such kind of vehicles is very high indeed. Deliveries will start immediately pan India.
The Mahindra Xylo has come under increasing competition from new entrants. Although the Nissan Evalia didn’t have any effect on the MPV market, the re-badged version, the Ashok Leyland Stile aims at stealing away market share from the Xylo in the commercial segment. This launch of the D2 MAXX is aimed to fend of competition from the Stile. The Evalia’s doppelganger is much better engineered and also boasts of more space but its van like appearance might not appeal to everyone.
