The Daimler owned Smart brand has come up with a funky looking Smart Fourjoy concept. It is a compact four-seater hatchback that previews the next generation Smart to be introduced in production guise eventually. The automaker is targeting urban commuting with compact dimensions measuring 3494 mm long, 1978 mm wide and 1494 mm high. The small hatchback has a tight turning circle of 4.55 metres. On the design front, it boasts of a sporty futuristic styling retaining the very few hints of the current generation Smart.
The Smart Fourjoy Concept comes with no doors, windows and roof to showcase the stylish lounge-like interior treatment. The front end features honeycomb air inlets and headlights without a glass cover. It comes with U shaped distinct looking LED daytime running lights. The side profile is treated with pearl white and brushed aluminium finish. The rear gets attractive LED square shaped tail lamp cluster. It is a typical concept that features funky yet minimalistic interior design with fancy rounded styling elements such as the seats and the dashboard.
Powering the Smart Fourjoy Concept is a pure magneto-electric 55 kW motor that produces zero local CO2 emissions. The electric motor is derived from the current Smart Fourtwo electric drive. Energy is provided from a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.6 kWh. The battery takes a maximum of seven hours to charge fully when completely empty. With rapid chargers, the charging time can be shortened to less than an hour. Additionally, the concept comes with attached skate boards with HD camera and helmets to cover short distances in the city.
