Each and every automaker around the globe is struggling hard to keep their models fresh and keep the sales going because of the increasing competition. Similarly, Jaguar Land Rover has given a mild update to the Jaguar XJ and the Range Rover Evoque for the 2014 model year. Jaguar XJ, the high end luxury saloon gets revised with mild technical upgrade along with exterior and convenience features. The range of petrol and diesel engine options remains untouched apart from the base 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit, which now gets stop/start system as standard for improved fuel economy.
The 2014 Jaguar XJ LWB model gets treated with new luxury features such as twin airline style reclining seats with massage, improved headroom, fold-out business tables and re-tuned rear suspension setup for a more comfortable ride. All the XJ models now get soft closing door technology, foldable centre armrest to allow the use of centre seat, revised entertainment system with two high-res touch screens and optional Meridian Reference Audio System with Conversation Assist. A new set of 18-inch Manra lightweight forged alloy wheels are also available.
The 2014 Range Rover Evoque on the other hand gets more additions in terms of exteriors, interiors and mechanical bits. On the outside, the body styling remains largely untouched apart from new colour options, restyled Land Rover badge and stylish new 9-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss black. Under the hood, the 2014 Evoque gets equipped with the new 9-speed ZF automatic transmission. The well-engineered transmission helps in reduce the fuel consumption of the Evoque by 11.4 percent and at the same time it reduces the CO2 emissions by 9.5 percent.
The updated Evoque is equipped with Active Driveline, which is an on demand four-wheel drive system that makes it more agile and improves fuel efficiency. It operates in front-wheel drive only during steady-state driving at speeds above 35 km/hr. The British manufacturer has also introduced Land Rover InControl system as an option, which allows the drivers to trigger an SOS emergency call which automatically informs the emergency services of the vehicle’s position in the event of an accident. The Range Rover Evoque is the best selling Land Rover currently and is likely to remain the same with the 2014 updates.
