KTM sales are all set to sky rocket in 2014, as the Austrian company plans to launch not one but TWO full faired motorcycles in the Indian market. The Duke 200 and Duke 390 are pocket rockets, which aren’t selling as much as one would expect. Sure, the Duke 200 has outsold the Honda CBR250R in every month of 2013 but sales could have been much higher. Indians love a full fairing on their bike and that is something which KTM’s boss Stefan Pierer has understood lately. Thus the company will launch the KTM RC 390 next year.
Last month KTM unveiled the RC 390 Cup motorcycle which gave us a glimpse into what the full faired Duke 390 will look like. The European automaker is all set to unveil the production spec RC 390 at the upcoming ECIMA motorcycle show in Milan later this year (November 2013) but we can’t wait that long. An xBhp member (Harsh) has made changes to the RC 390 Cup motorcycle to give us a glimpse of how the production spec model might look. The edited picture shows the RC 390 to be a hot proposition.
The photoshopped image shows the KTM RC 390 with turn indicators, rear view mirrors, underbelly exhaust, pillion seat, pillion footpegs and RC8 borrowed headlight and decals. The Akrapovic exhaust and race foot pegs have been removed. Clearly the Duke 390 and RC 390 will share parts for the benefit of economies of scale. Expect Bajaj Auto to price the KTM RC 390 at around Rs. 2.25 lakhs (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale early next year.
Do you like the RC 390 over the regular Duke 390? Do you think it will be a genuine alternative to the Kawasaki Ninja 300?
