MINI has just revealed the Vision concept, which is basically a study to preview the future design language of the British iconic brand. The upcoming generation of the MINI hatchback has derived some design cues from this Vision concept, which showcases flamboyant design elements yet retains the retro appeal of the original MINI. The Vision concept reflects a modern exterior design but the interior features futuristic elements and interactive gadgets.
The front fascia of the concept is dominated by the wide hexagonal grille derived from the Classic MINI, which integrates the bumper neatly with fog lamps. The front headlamps are now full LED with DRLs. The overall stance is unmistakably MINI with the traditional roofline treatment. The aerodynamics of the vehicle has improved significantly with elements such as air intake and outlet on the front wheel arches, airflow-optimised wheel rims, exterior mirrors and a roof spoiler.
On the inside, the Vision concept features lounge seats, floating centre console along with transparent and open cockpit. One of the features in the interior includes Driving Experience Control, which changes the mix of colors inside according to the mood. The presentation of the MINI Vision concept is based on a virtual 3D hologram, which allows the designers to develop ideas quickly and under realistic conditions. Sadly, the production version of the next generation MINI will be a significantly toned down version of the concept.
