Moto Guzzi is a well known Italian motorcycle manufacturer with a great history. It is the oldest European motorcycle maker, producing bikes continuously since 1921 till date. Their latest product lineup consists of modern technology blended with gorgeous retro design language. Moto Guzzi’s one of the best creation is the California 1400 Custom. The cruiser bike is well treated with graceful styling elements and best in class standard features such as traction control, ABS, cruise control, variable engine mapping and a ride by wire throttle system.
The Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom is powered by a 1380cc, 4-stroke, 90 degree V-twin engine, which belts out 96 HP of maximum power at 6500 RPM and 120 Nm of peak torque at 2750 RPM. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with final overdrive for effortless cruising ability of the bike. The suspension setup consists of hydraulic telescopic fork at front, while a double shock absorber at the rear. For effective braking, the California is equipped with dual 320 mm floating discs up front and 282 mm fixed disc at the rear.
The rider can select between three riding modes depending upon the situation which includes Sport, Touring and Rain. In the Sport mode, the California provides more torque at the initial rev range, while in the Touring mode, the mid range and top range gets stronger for comfortable cruising. Hitting the Rain mode eases out the power delivery with light response of the throttle keeping the wheel spin under control. The Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom is available for $14,990 in the US (Rs. 9 lakhs) and the strongest rival for this cruiser is the Harley Davidson Dyna in the international market. The bike is available in India through two Moto Guzzi dealers (one each in Pune and Gurgaon) and is brought in via the CBU route. The Moto Guzzi California is priced at around Rs. 22 lakhs.
