Montecarlo Automobile is a car maker based in the country of Monaco. Montecarlo was founded by a racing car driver and engineer Fulvio Maria Ballabio in 1983. They are known to produce track and street legal race cars and have known expertise in green fuel powered supercars. To commemorate their 30th anniversary, Montecarlo have produced a limited edition supercar, Rascasse which runs on gasoline and LPG. The Rascasse is named after a famous corner at the Monte Carlo circuit (Circuit De Monaco) which demands a quick braking for a left turn followed by a 135 degree right turn.
The Montecarlo Rascasse is powered by a 5.4-litre, V12 BMW engine. This motor has been tuned to attain a power of 500 BHP and runs on both gasoline and hydrogen-enriched LPG. The vehicle is built around a lightweight monocoque chassis. The Rascasse was built with expert inputs from the motorsport engineering firm BRC. The engine is mid-mounted and the interiors seem to be done in a vintage manner with lot of wood panelling. The steering wheel holds an analog clock at the centre.
The Rascasse supercar is expected to be priced at €500,000 (Rs. 3.93 crores) and only fifteen of these will be built. It is expected to be revealed later this year at the anniversary celebrations. Further upgrade on the Rascasse is expected later which will be a hybrid featuring a supercharger to boost power and will also have an all-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, for that much money there are a lot of offerings from other supercar makers, which prove to be worth the money spent by the buyer.
