Hyundai is in the process of rejuvenating its product lineup. The evolution of models to the charming fluidic design has lured a lot of customers besides boosting the company’s presence in the respective segments. Hyundai’s next generation i10 has been in light because of its small capacity diesel engine which is reckoned to change the market scenario in the B-segment. The next revised launch from Hyundai was anticipated as the new i20 that becomes confirmed after the recently spotted camouflaged test mule of the all new i20 was spotted in Tamil Nadu.
The images evidently show the second generation Hyundai i20 will be longer than the current model and is expected to be based on a new platform structure. The body will be completed revised as seen on the other models like the Elantra, Sonata and Verna from the same family. The uncovered body chunk reveals the sharp body lines and the triangular quarter glass at the rear doors with the large extended boot length are prominent in the pictures.
The next generation Hyundai i20 is expected to be powered by the same 1.4–litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol powerplants and major changes would be seen on the inside as well. Whereas, if Hyundai will manage to launch the next generation model with a diesel engine mated to the automatic transmission, the new Hyundai i20 could easily rival the upcoming Volkswagen Polo GT TDI.
The current Hyundai i20 offers a good overall package in India and appeals to a lot of customers in its segment with its class leading interior quality and powerful 90 BHP diesel engine. However, the soft suspension and average steering response at high speeds has always been an annoyance to the driving enthusiasts. The upcoming i20 is expected to be introduced in 2014 and if the company will succeed to banish the current side-issues, the new i20 will come up as a potential choice for premium hatchback buyers.
