Toyota has just announced a recall campaign for the Corolla Altis Diesel manufactured between 3rd August 2012 and 14th February 2013. A potential abnormality has been observed by the Japanese automaker in a few cases on the left or right side of the driveshaft. According to the company, they have decided to proactively inspect and replace/repair the driveshafts. Toyota believes in customer first philosophy and this is a precautionary measure taken by the Japanese automaker in order to ensure customer satisfaction.
The inspection, replacement and repair job for the driveshafts on the Corolla Altis diesel can be availed free of cost by the customers at any Toyota dealership across India. The automaker claims that the service may take around two hours. This is the second time Toyota is recalling the Corolla Altis in India. Earlier in October 2012, Toyota had recalled the Corolla Altis and Camry in India to replace faulty power window master switch for around 8700 models.
Reminding you about the tech specs, the Toyota Corolla Altis diesel is powered by a 1.4-litre D-4D engine, producing a peak power of 87 BHP at 3800 RPM with a peak torque rated to 205 Nm at 1800 RPM, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Yes, its underpowered. The Toyota Corolla Altis is also available with a 1.8-litre petrol engine option, mated to both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission. In April 2013, Toyota had introduced a new J (S) variant for the Corolla Altis with additional safety and convenience features for both diesel and petrol variants.
