Jaguar Land Rover has just announced their new engineering test centre in Dubai, which focuses to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development and testing. The British carmaker has a network of five global test facilities that include Nurburgring in Germany, Arjeplog in Sweden, Phoenix and International Falls in USA and now Dubai in UAE. Dubai is known for its extreme temperatures in the desert reaching 48 to 50 degrees Celsius in summers.
The new test centre measures 11,120 sq. ft., situated in the Al Barsha area of Dubai. Jaguar Land Rover will conduct comprehensive tests including durability, calibration and hot weather testing for heat and humidity in the new Dubai test centre. The engineering team at the new centre will replace a smaller facility in Dubai and will further test powertrains, chassis and heat and ventilation systems along with the off-road and sand driving capability of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system.
According to Director of Engineering Technical Services, Jaguar Land Rover, Martyn Hollingsworth, the new facility in Dubai is four times bigger than the previous test centre, which will help them enhance their testing of future products and technologies. The focus is on the quality and durability of the vehicles to ensure that the future products from the British automaker’s stable can withstand even the harshest conditions.
Jaguar Land Rover will invest £2.75 billion (Rs. 2300 crores) in this fiscal year to March 2014, which will include product creation and we can expect some interesting vehicles coming out of the Jaguar Land Rover stable in the future.
