Honda Vietnam has launched the Lead 125 scooter powered by a 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with “enhanced Smart Power” technology that incorporates low-friction technology and returns high fuel efficiency. Honda has striven to boost the fuel economy figure of the scooter and to further increase the efficiency output, the manufacturer has adopted idling stop system for the scooter. The Lead 125cc scooter also features Programmed Fuel Injection system (PGM-FI) that delivers stable engine performance with high mileage.
In terms of looks, the Honda Lead 125 gets modern styling elements with an upmarket feel. The upholstery on the scooter gets a beige tone and up front there is a V-shaped thick chrome strip with integrated turn indicators that give the scooter premium appearance, while at the rear it features LED tail lamps. The Lead 125 gets 37-litres of storage space underneath the seat that can store two full face helmets. It is equipped with decent amount of convenience features as well. The fuel lid and seat can be opened through the main key by using a rocker switch.
The instrument cluster of the Honda Lead features a clock and illuminated pointers on the LCD meters for easy readability. Honda will produce 2,00,000 units of the Lead 125 annually. Initially, Honda will be selling the scooter in Vietnam and is expected to commence exports to Japan early in summers. We can expect Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) to introduce the India-spec Lead 125 later in 2013, as Honda aims to launch new products every quarter in India. Honda claims that Vietnam will be the fourth Asian country to provide global production and export, following China, Thailand and India.
