The Chevrolet Cruze was launched in the year 2008 and has since garnered huge volumes in the global market. The Cruze was especially appreciated for its very aggressive and sporty styling and now General Motors is already on its way to present the next generation of this very successful model. The second generation Chevrolet Cruze is actually due for early 2015 so that suggests that GM is pretty serious about this very facelift, testing the prototype this early. The Cruze was being tested in a snow-clad region under heavy psychedelic camouflage.
The only confirmed specification about the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is that it will be underpinned to General Motors’ fresh global architecture, the D2xx platform. The platforms versatility is proved from the fact that it will be underpinning cars among varied segments from compacts’ to crossovers and the Cruze would be the first vehicle to ride on it. Even other GM brands like Vauxhall, Opel, Buick, Cadillac will be sharing the D2xx platform, resulting in tremendous cost savings for the American car maker.
The spyshots suggest that the new Chevrolet Cruze will sport sleeker with longer proportions than the current model and ofcourse full of attractive styling. Apart from the sedan, an estate version and a compact hatchback are also expected under the Cruze brand. The new Chevrolet Cruze is expected to hit the roads by early 2015. It will be manufactured in Europe and not South Korea, where it is currently produced at GMDAT (GM Daewoo Auto Technology). Recently GM launched a diesel version of the Cruze in the US, which is powered by a 2.0-litre engine with overboost function.
