Alfa Romeo is all set to come up on the stage with the 4C sports coupe’s world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The Italian car manufacturer is finally ready with the production model of the 4C sports coupe that looks stunning and retains some unique elements showcased on its concept version in 2011. Alfa Romeo has sculpted the sports coupe with an all-carbon fibre monocoque body with the front and rear frames being made of aluminium.
The Alfa Romeo 4C is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.75-litre turbocharged engine borrowed from its sibling, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. The 1750cc engine comes with a new aluminum block and distinctively-designed intake and exhaust manifolds along with direct injection system and dual continuous valve timing. The engine is mated to a TCT twin dry clutch transmission featuring an auto and a sequential mode with steering mounted paddle shifters transmitting the power to the rear wheels.
Apart from the Dynamic, Natural and All Weather modes, the Alfa Romeo 4C comes with an additional ‘Race’ mode designed to improve the handling of the sports coupe on track driving. According to the company, the 4C has a weight-to-power ratio of less than 4 kg/HP. According to sources, the Alfa Romeo 4C sports coupe is expected to hit the U.S. showrooms by the end of this year and will be manufactured in limited number of units at Maserati’s plant. An India launch is ruled out in the near future.
