Honda will launch the next generation CR-V in India on the 12th of February 2013. The company is hoping to increase sales of the soft-roader and has gone the CKD route with the vehicle, which will be assembled for the very first time in India. The 2013 Honda CR-V has major updates over its predecessor, making it a much better car than the outgoing model. Honda is still not offering any diesel version of the CR-V in India and the company’s focus will continue to be on the Brio and its future derivatives (Amaze, Brio-based MPV, etc).
Honda is offering two petrol engines on the new CR-V. A 2.0-litre petrol engine which produces 156 PS of power at 6500 RPM and 190 Nm of torque at 4300 RPM. Honda claims a mileage of 13.7 km/l on this engine. The second engine offered on the new CR-V is the 2.4-litre petrol engine which produces 190 PS of power at 7000 RPM and 226 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM. This engine returns a claimed mileage of 12 km/l. There will be 4 variants of the 2013 Honda CR-V in India and only the base 2.0-litre variant will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Rest all variants are mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2.4-litre version of the Honda CR-V gets Honda’s real time 4-wheel drive system, paddle shifts, electric sunroof as standard. The top end variant (called 2.4L AT with AVN) gets a 6.1-inch touch screen audio system with audio video navigation system and handsfree telephone. All automatic variants get Hill Start Assist as standard. All variants of the Honda CR-V are offered with 4 airbags, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, reversing camera and steering mounted audio controls as standard. Inspire (rear spoiler, side running board) and Elegance (chrome inserts) styling packages are offered on the vehicle.
