After all the scoops and numerous uncamouflaged spy shots, Ford EcoSport has finally started hitting the dealerships in India. According to the dealers, the launch is expected to happen sometime soon, most probably next month and the deliveries will commence later in March or April this year. Ford dealers have already started accepting the bookings of the EcoSport in advance with Rs. 50,000/-, which is completely refundable. Ford will offer both petrol and diesel engine options on the EcoSport.
The EcoSport spotted at the dealership is the 1.0-litre manual EcoBoost model in Titanium trim. The particular model didn’t feature parking sensors, so we expect that Ford will offer high end goodies in the Titanium+ trim. Notice the huge panel gaps on the rear door openings. The interior design is almost similar to the Ford Fiesta. The interior space when compared to the Renault Duster is less, as the EcoSport measures less than 4-metres in length and the Duster is a mid-size SUV.
The Ford EcoSport is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine producing 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque with an option of 5-manual and a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmissions. The EcoSport featuring a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Fiesta churns out 90 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque coupled with only a 5-speed manual transmission. According to sources, the EcoSport will head to production in March and the deliveries can be stretched upto May this year.
