Toyota has introduced a new 5-speed automatic variant of the Fortuner. The company is also offering the limited edition Fortuner TRD Sportvio as a regular variant, looking at the positive response given by the customers. According to Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the four speed automatic transmission got an overwhelming response by the customers and now the five speed automatic transmission will further enhance the drive quality of the SUV with better comfort levels.
The Toyota Fortuner is one of the leading SUVs in the Indian market featuring a 3.0-litre diesel engine producing 169 BHP of maximum power at 3600 RPM and 343 Nm of peak torque figure between 1400-3400 RPM mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The SUV offers both 2-wheel drive system as well as an all time 4-wheel drive system. The Fortuner is a good off-roader although not many use it to go the road less travelled. This Toyota SUV was launched in August 2009 and since then Toyota has sold more than 41,000 units in the Indian market.
Toyota had introduced the limited edition Fortuner TRD Sportvio last year in October, which gives the SUV a sporty appearance. Along with the introduction of the new transmission, Toyota has introduced a new Pearl White Mica premium color for all the variants. The new Fortuner 4×2 5-Speed AT is priced at Rs. 22,33,000/-, 4×2 5-Speed AT TRD Sportivo is priced at Rs. 22,93,000/- and the 4×2 MT TRD Sportivo is priced at Rs. 21,96,668/- (all prices ex showroom, Delhi). The bookings for the new variants will commence from 18th January 2013.
