BMW has unveiled the 4-Series Coupe concept at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The two-door coupe has been badged as 4-Series Coupe, but according to the looks of the car, it is a 3-Series featuring two doors. The 4-Series Coupe is likely to replace the 3-Series Coupe from the BMW lineup. With the unveiling of the BMW 4-Series Coupe, the brand is stepping into the fourth generation of its sporty mid-range coupe. The coupe is 50 mm longer, 44 mm broader and the roofline is 16 mm lower than the existing 3-Series Coupe, which is resulting in better driving dynamics.
The engine details for the coupe are not confirmed yet but BMW is expected to offer a four cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged unit and a 3.0-litre turbo six-cylinder unit. The design elements have been borrowed from the new 3-Series with a much sporty stance. The production version of the 4-Series Coupe will tone down some design elements from the concept. Apart from the eye-catching twin circular headlamps connecting seamlessly with the kidney grill, the front fascia boasts an enormous functional air intake surrounded by two wide vents that channel the incoming air to reduce fuel consumption.
The design language continues to the rear, blending with the sporty treatment done on the low-slung rear bumper along with the LED tail lamps. The BMW 4-Series Coupe concept showcases a stylish interior design with sporty elements. The interiors are driver focused, giving the driver a sporty yet secure sense of space. The 4-Series coupe will come equipped with high-tech features. The production version is expected to roll out soon in the international market. BMW will introduce the 4-Series Coupe in India soon after its global launch.
