Piaggio unveiled th Vespa LX125 in the Indian market at the 2012 Auto Expo, held in Delhi. Vespa is a premium product offering strong performance, retro looks and a frugal 125cc engine mated to an automatic transmission. The air-cooled, 125cc four-stroke engine produces a maximum power output of 10 BHP and a torque of 10.6 Nm. The Vespa LX125 is the most powerful automatic scooter available in India. Currently, Piaggio offers a standard warranty of 2 years/24,000 kms for the Vespa LX125. The company is offering two new extended warranty schemes on the scooter.
The existing owners as well as the new owners can buy the extended warranty offered by the company. One scheme includes an extended warranty of 1 year/12,000 kilometers, while the other scheme includes an extended warranty of 2 years/24,000 kilometers. The 1 year/12,000 kms extended warranty is being offered for Rs. 400 for new owners and for Rs. 480 for existing owners. The 2 years/24,000 kms extended warranty is being offered for Rs. 550 for new owners and Rs. 625 for existing owners.
This move by Piaggio can help increase the sales of the Vespa, as the scooter is experiencing low sales, reason being the hefty premium price tag. The Piaggio Vespa LX125 costs Rs. 78,299/- OTR Mumbai, which is quite expensive, as the scooter lacks some premium features and the quality levels is average. On the brighter side, the Vespa has got some stylish looks and strong performance compared to other automatic scooters in the market. Piaggio will launch mass market scooters next year, which are going to be priced attractively.
