The SX4 was designed and developed by Suzuki and Fiat together. Fiat sells the SX4 as the Sedici, while Suzuki sells the SX4 in both hatchback and sedan forms around the world. The Suzuki SX4 has now aged and a replacement is due. Maruti Suzuki managed to sell just 447 units of the SX4 in August. Now Suzuki has just released the S-Cross Concept, which will form the basis for the next generation SX4, due in 2013. The SX4 were be a crossover rather than a sedan or hatchback.
Suzuki is already working on the S-Cross production model and the car has been spied on test in Europe. The camouflaged pictures don’t reveal much but these pictures of the S-Cross Concept give us a hint of what to expect from the 2014 Suzuki SX4. While the LED lights, big wheels, camera rear view mirrors and big exhausts won’t make it to production, Suzuki will almost certainly use the overall design of this vehicle for the next generation SX4.

Maruti Suzuki is waiting for Suzuki Japan to bring out the replacement of the SX4 as the poor performance of the car has led to reduction in market share in the C-segment for India’s largest car maker. With the XA Alpha compact SUV set for a 2014 release, the S-Cross could very well slot below the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki will most likely use the 1.4-litre M14A engine from the Ertiga and current 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine in the new SX4. The company could also bring in the 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engine, which could put the S-Cross in direct competition against the 110 PS Renault Duster.
