Volkswagen had displayed an impressive array of its new products and re-launches at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. The highlight of this event was the new Touareg. Since then the industry had been awaiting its official launch. Now, finally it found its spot on the official website of Volkswagen India. The 2013 Volkswagen Touareg is introduced with an all-new platform and design makeover, which makes it longer providing more interior space and some changes to the engine too. The Touareg will be launched in seven different colors.
As per the brochure, the new generation Volkswagen Touareg will sport a 3-litre, V6 TDI diesel engine that provides a maximum power output of 242 HP at 3800-4400 RPM and a maximum torque of 550 Nm at 1750-2250 RPM. The engine has been coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission, equipped with a stop-start function which cuts off the engine at traffic lights, allowing for better fuel efficiency. Overall, there is a 41 mm increase in its wheel-base and it is 12 mm wider. The exterior styling has been modified and accompanied by fog-lamps, roof-rails, panoramic sunroof and all-time running LED lights. Step inside and you are greeted with feel-good interiors carefully combined with leather, wood inserts and plastics along with the chrome and the metal-lining running impeccably.
There is enough to play with on the inside, with a ‘Premium’ multi-function display, RCD 550 with MP4 compatibility and a six-CD changer music system with eight speakers. Apart from this, there is a 4-way electrically adjustable, control mounted steering wheel, 14-way adjustable front seats, and scores of other such features. All this with no compromise on the safety features such as the driver and passenger airbags, side airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with brake assistant, ASR and the EDL.
