Land Rover has officially unveiled the fourth generation Range Rover in London, where the British car maker also revealed all the details about the all new luxury SUV. The 2013 Range Rover is lighter then before and is a huge leap in terms of dynamics from its predecessor. However what is most interesting is the addition of a diesel hybrid to the line-up, which might make its way to India in 2013. The new Range Rover will be sold in 170 countries worldwide.

Tata Motors will launch the new Range Rover in India in December 2012. The vehicle is brought in as a CBU and due to its pricing, it doesn’t require homologation. Due to the increase in CBU duties and depreciation of the Rupee, one can expect the Mk4 Range Rover to have a slight price increase over the old model. Deliveries of the new Range Rover will commence immediately but a small waiting period is expected till the initial demand is not met.

The 2013 Range Rover is powered by a range of engines. The base variant is the Vogue, which uses the 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel engine while the top end is the Autobiography which is powered by a 5.0-litre Supercharged petrol engine. These engine produces 255 BHP and 503 BHP respectively. There is another diesel engine on offer, which is the 4.4-litre SDV8, producing 334 BHP of power. All the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel hybrid draws power from a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine which is paired with an integrated electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.
