After its split with Honda, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has finally entered the International market. The company has placed its foot in the Sri Lankan market and has appointed the ABANS Group as its sole distributor. It will sell its products through a channel of 50 outlets. Under its new brand identity, the company has launched 14 models in Sri Lanka. The country has a loyal customer base for the company and starting its international business from here is a strategic move by the company.
“Sri Lanka has been a very important market for us, and we have a loyal customer base in this country. It gives me immense pleasure to announce the choice of ABANS group as our partner in this market,” Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said.
As said earlier, the company introduced 14 models here. ‘Glamour’, the 125cc motorcycle, was launched by the Sri Lankan cricket star Kumar Sangakkara. Miss Sri Lanka, Stephanie Siriwardhana, introduced the scooter, Pleasure. The other vehicles that were launched includes Deluxe, Dawn, Pro, Splendor NXG, Super Splendor, Passion Pro, Karizma ZMR, Hunk, Xtreme and Achiever. Currently, they will be distributed through the existing network which is bound to be doubled in the next one year. The company will soon commence its exports to markets in Africa and Latin America in order to attain 10 percent of its total volumes from the international sales, which is their set goal.
