The German luxury car maker, Audi is likely to add up more Q models, namely the Q2, the Q4, the Q6 and the Q8 to its current portfolio, according to a report by Automobile magazine. The host of new Q models are also expected to be more sleek and coupe-like companions to the current models. The existing Q models, the Q3, Q5 and the Q7 models will get a major design make-over to make them look more rugged SUVs with elevated ground clearance and body cladding.
One of the first models to be launched by the manufacturer will be the Q2. The Q2 is expected to debut as early as 2016 and will be featuring Volkswagen Group’s MQX platform architecture. Next in line will be the Audi Q8. Code-named MQBevo, the Audi Q8 will be riding on next generation Q7 platform and will feature hybrid powertrains. The Q8 is likely to get 2 hybrid powertrains in which one will get a 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder while the other will use a diesel V6 in addition to an electric motor.
Next up, the Q6 is likely to debut in 2017 and will be sharing a lot of components with the Audi Q5 and also the upcoming Porsche Macan. Finally the Q4 will make its debut in 2018 riding on the Q3 architecture. Is Audi India going to launch these models in the Indian markets? Audi has already announced it wants to become the Number 1 car manufacturer, so how will Audi pitch in these models is to be seen.
