Ford has unveiled the production ready EcoSport to the Brazilian media as well as at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show in China. The American automaker has also given a glimpse on the interiors of the Ford EcoSport, along with updating the Ford India website with the features of this compact SUV. Thankfully though, Ford has not made many changes to the appearance of the EcoSport and the obvious missing feature seen on the concept is the LED head lights. Ford has also added a spare wheel cover to the EcoSport, with all the promotional vehicles being painted in Mars Red colour.
The Ford EcoSport is based on the B2E platform and is internally known as B515. From the outside, the EcoSport might not look even close to the Fiesta but the interiors are very similar with very slight changes. This is because the EcoSport is based on the Fiesta platform, which gives Ford huge cost advantages, resulting in the Indian price of the EcoSport starting at around Rs. 7 lakhs, going all the way upto Rs. 9.5 lakhs.

The Ford EcoSport will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine which produces 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. This engine can compete with 1.6-litre in performance but with 20% reduction in fuel consumption. This compact turbocharged petrol engine will return 20 km/l and is mated to a 6-speed PowerShift automatic gearbox and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Diesel power will come from the 1.5-litre TDCi engine from the Fiesta, which produces 90 BHP and 200 Nm. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Ford has also displayed crucial information on its Indian site, which tells us that the EcoSport will have a ground clearance of 200mm and a water wadding capability of 550mm. There are close to 20 storage spaces inside (including a spot for the umbrella), with the boot offering 346-liters of space (560-litres with the seats down, which fold in 60:40 configuration). Ford will also keyless entry with button start and SYNC system (lets you sync music, messages, etc from your phone to the car). Ford has not compromised one bit on equipment with the EcoSport getting front airbags, curtain airbags, ABS, ESP, TCS and Hill Launch Assist.
