The US based auto manufacturer, General Motors is currently busy developing its all new SUV, the Chevrolet Trailblazer and a production ready version of the vehicle was revealed in Thailand. The Trailblazer was first displayed as a concept at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show. The production ready Chevrolet Trailblazer would be making its debut at the upcoming Bangkok Motor Show which is scheduled to be held from March 26th to April 8th. To be first debuted in the market of Thailand, the 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer is built on a body-on-frame type architecture.
General Motors has not revealed about the markets which the company is aiming with this new SUV, for the Asian markets, the Trailblazer will be getting GM’s new 4 cylinder Duramax engines of 2.5 litre and 2.8 litre displacements. Equipped with turbochargers in both, the 2.5 litre diesel engine produces 148 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque while its larger displacement sibling, the 2.8 litre diesel churns out 177 BHP of power and 470 Nm of torque. Chevrolet will give an option of mating these engines to a 5 speed manual gearbox or a 6 speed automatic.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer can successfully make it to the Indian market since it is witnessing an increased demand for SUVs. Moreover, with the Trailblazer, GM can directly rival likes of Toyota Innova. Currently GM India is not committing to the launch of any new vehicle this year except the Sail and the Enjoy MPV. But the company could very well of bringing in the Trailblazer next year, producing it locally and pricing it aggressively.
