Ford has just unveiled the Fiesta ST at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Ford Fiesta ST disappeared on the new Fiesta model in 2008 and has finally made its comeback. If you look at the changes on the vehicle, you will notice the front is different, with Aston Martin influence added for good measure. Yes, these changes will be brought into all the Ford Fiesta models in the near future, as the car is due for a midlife mild facelift. The current generation Fiesta was launched in 2008 and should soon be sporting the Mondeo front, which looks quite stunning. The current Fiesta itself is so hot and the facelift will take it to all together to a different level.
While the Ford Fiesta hatchback is set to arrive in 2013 on Indian soil, there are no plans of a ST variant for our country. Just to wet your appetite, we shall tell you the specifications of the 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine which does duty on the Fiesta ST. This turbocharged unit produces 180 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of under 7 seconds and a top speed of over 220 km/h. The EcoBoost engine benefits from lesser emissions and higher fuel efficiency, resulting in the Fiesta ST being green in orange. But that is not all, Ford has put in many technologies to ensure the Fiesta ST goes around a corner like a train on rails and thus the Fiesta ST benefits from Torque Vectoring Control system and three ESP modes. The chassis has been lowered by 15mm too with special tuning. Still not convinced, well the Ford Fiesta ST was tested over 5000 kms on the Nurburgring. I rest my case!
