The Korean car maker, Hyundai Motors is all set to showcase the new facelifted i20 at the upcoming 82nd Geneva Motor Show often called as the Geneva International Auto Salon. However, before their official unveiling of the car at the event, few official pictures of the vehicle have already been released on the internet. From the pictures, it is clearly evident that the new facelifted i20 has also gone through the “fluidic” styling of Hyundai but the fluidic styling hasn’t been done too much like in its other models. The i20 was probably one of the last vehicles that are receiving the fluidic styling from the vehicle stylists at Hyundai.
The new facelifted i20 gets design changes in its front grille, headlamps and front bumper. The overall front fascia of the vehicle has a faint resemblance to their hatchback model the i30 and the sedan/estate model the i40. The new i20 gets the similar hexagonal shaped front grille as a part of the fluidic styling. On the side, things remain more or less the same. The bold shoulder line spanning all across the side profile has been carried over from its older sibling while the rear also sports not many changes apart from some slight modifications made to the tail lamps.
Being a facelift, we expect the matter under the hood to remain the same. The car would continue to be powered by the 1.2 litre kappa engine but might see some power boost from the current 79 BHP at 5200 RPM and torque figures of 110Nm at 4000 RPM. India, being a very important market for Hyundai Motors they would be bringing this car very soon to the Indian market. What remains to be seen is how Hyundai would be pricing this new model as compared to the current one. Will they price it more aggressively to gain larger volumes or charge extra for some premium class comfort?
