The German auto manufacturer, Mercedes Benz has launched its GL “Grand Edition” SUV in the Indian market. Mercedes Benz has been in the luxury SUV market in India since a long time and with the launch of the GL “Grand Edition”, the company wants to re-iterate this fact. The GL is one of the most luxurious and biggest SUVs available in the Indian market in its segment as of today and the Grand Edition version seems to offer more to that. With the growing demand for SUVs in India, Mercedes Benz has timed the launch very well for the Indian market.

On the exterior, the GL Grand Edition distinct itself from its sibling the GL in many ways like the dark tinted headlamps, black radiator grille, high sheen louvers, restyled front bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, divided exhaust tailpipe trim, heat-insulating and infrared-reflecting laminated glass and metallic paint finish. Overall, these modifications indeed give a more upmarket feel to the car making it look grander than the GL. On the interior, the GL Grand Edition gets new design two-tone leather seats in the color combinations black with porcelain and black with maroon leather upholstery. The GL Grand Edition can accommodate upto 7 passengers with oodles of space inside to soak in luxury. It also gets velour floor mats with “Grand Edition” lettering on them and on the centre console.
The GL Grand Edition is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 engine that produces 224 BHP of maximum power and 510 Nm of maximum torque. With such figures, the car can hit up to a maximum speed of 210 km/h. The engine is mated to Mercedes’ 7G-TRONIC transmission box with power delivery to the wheels via the 4MATIC all wheel drive technology. The GL Grand Edition rides on 255/50 R20 tires and has a kerb weight of 2505 kgs. The boot capacity stands at 620-2300 litres. It also gets features like AIRMATIC air suspension, Direct-Steer system and the Adaptive Damping System ADS, Off-Road ABS, Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) and Hill-Start Assist. The GL Grand Edition comes in 2 variants, the Executive and the Luxury with price at Rs. 60,99,000 and 65,50,000 respectively. (ex-showroom, Delhi).
