The results are out and MotorBeam readers have selected the 2011 car and bike of the year. The voting saw huge response but there was just no competition in both categories, with the winners taking away a major chunk of the votes with no competition in sight. Out of all votes registered, the Mahindra XUV5OO was the clear winner, taking away 37% of the votes, the new Maruti Swift was second with just 8% votes while the all new Ford Fiesta garnered 6% votes. When it comes to bikes, the Honda CBR250R amassed 40% of the votes, with the Hero Impulse coming in second place (18% votes) and the Kawasaki Ninja 650R coming in third place (12 % votes).
Thus the 2011 MotorBeam Car of the year is the Mahindra XUV5OO, while the 2011 MotorBeam Bike of the year is the Honda CBR250R (we had predicted this in the beginning of 2011 here).
We also ran a competition, wherein the top ten comments on the voting post would be awarded with a Star of India t-shirt. The ten winners are Ragu EN, Raj, Hritik, Bhuvan, Aks, Akhil, Jawad M, Bhavesh, Smijo and Asif. Please use the contact form above to send me your address, we will get in touch with Nissan and dispatch your t-shirts soon. For those who did not win, don’t be disappointed, as we will be having another competition soon.
