Small cars are getting safer and the new Volkswagen Up! is testimony to this. The 2-door city car from the German automaker has got 5-star rating from Euro NCAP in its latest crash test evaluation. The same top rating has been awarded to the Up!’s cousin’s, the Skoda CitiGo and Seat Mii. The Volkswagen Up! offered good protection to adult and child occupants and received an 80% score for child protection. It also received maximum points for passenger protection. However don’t expect these results to be valid for India, as most of the cars have very different configuration when they land here. Interestingly, two Chinese cars, the Geely Emgrand and MG6 have received 4 star rating, which is a huge leap for these companies who are now looking at developing safer cars.
