Korean bike maker, Hyosung along with their partner Garware Motors is planning on bringing in the GT250 model soon to India as a part of their expansion plans of their product line-up. the bike is expected to come as early as March 2012. The GT250 comes with a 249 cc V twin engine which produces about 30 bhp though the official figures have not been revealed till now. The engine will feature fuel injection technology and both air and oil cooling. It will be mated to a 5 speed gearbox having the 1 down, 4 up shifting pattern.
Hyosung is going to offer both naked and full faired versions of the bike. At the front, upside-down forks and at the rear link type mono shock suspension is going to take care of the road undulations. Braking is going to be done by the 300 mm front and 230 mm rear discs. Hyosung is definitely going to price the bike at a very competitive price range since the 250cc segment is currently the hot favourite of all bike manufacturers. Already Honda and Kawasaki have launched their models the CBR250R and the Ninja250 respectively in this segment. Also Bajaj along with KTM is going launch the Duke 200 soon.
Hyosung is definitely doing a great job by moving into the affordable and competitive 250cc segment. If Hyosung and Garware can get the pricing right, which we are expecting to be below Rs. 1.5 lakhs then they should be able to gain a considerable chunk of the young customers who basically looking for a affordable yet sporty and powerful bike.
