The Chevrolet Optra has been selling since 2003 with a minor facelift here and there. The replacement for the Optra is the Chevrolet Cruze and GM plan to launch it in 2009. The Chevy Cruze will take the fight to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla in the D segment. The Cruze will be adapted to Indian roads when it will be launched here. It will get 15 inch wheels and will get the same 2.0 liter diesel engine which does duty in the currect Optra. The roomy cabin can comfortably accommodate five adults. It offers rear passengers exceptional space, with more leg, head and shoulder room than usually found in this class. The petrol engine will be a all new 1.8 liter variable valve timing unit which will produce around 130 horses. Pricing will be competitive and expect it to undercut the Civic and Corolla by a few thousands.
