The grueling Maruti Suzuki strike at Manesar has finally come to an end as workers finally signed the good conduct bond. India’s largest car manufacturer now intends to hike production of the Swift by close to 40% as it looks to deliver cars to the customers in time. The strike, which cost the company close to Rs. 660 crore lasted more than a month. Now Maruti Suzuki will start full fledged production at its second plant in Manesar, which will boost out put of the Swift to 17,000 units a month.
The company had temporary shifted production of the Swift to Gurgaon. However now the complete Swift production will be done in Manesar. This will help Maruti Suzuki in reducing logistics costs. The increased production will help the company in reducing waiting period by upto two months. The current waiting period is almost eight months now. As much as the customers are relieved, so are the dealers, few of them were even contemplating in opening other dealerships.
