Tata Motors has downsized the Aria to boost sales. The Aria is also the most accomplished car from Tata till date. Tata Motors has revealed that they are working on a petrol version of the Aria. However there is no confirmation on whether they would be launching it anytime soon. The company uses body on frame layout for the Aria, whereas other companies use a monocoque chassis. Tata Motors clarifies this by telling us that the body on frame layout is more suited for off-roading and monocoque based SUVs are more of a softroader. The 3.0-liter DICOR motor which was used in the Safari will not be used in the Aria. The company is not planning any other vehicle on the Aria platform in the near future as it will require radical redesigning. The company will continue to focus on the Aria, while their real focus will be the Nano.
“As the first Indian 4×4 crossover, the Tata Aria has broken a new path for Tata Motors. With the introduction of the Aria 4×2, we make the range comprehensive. The pleasure of the Aria, combining the finesse of a sedan with the muscle of an SUV, can now be availed by a larger customer segment.” – Mr. P M Telang, Managing Director – India Operations, Tata Motors
