The car division of Honda has recently been in the news for offering discounts and cutting prices of its cars, while the bike division has been in the news for its insane waiting periods. Now, it has been learned that Honda Motorcycles is offering discounts on the CB Twister, as the bike struggles to sell as per expectations. The Honda CB Twister is the only motorcycle from the stable of Honda, which you can ride home without having to wait for months together. The CB Twister is not doing well and sales have plummeted owing to its high pricing and cheaper alternatives.
In order to keep sales momentum going, Honda dealers are offering cash benefits along with lower interest rates to shift the Twister out of the showrooms. The CB Twister is priced at Rs. 49,775/- while the Hero Honda Splendor comes much cheaper at Rs. 41,350/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Thus many Honda dealers are offering benefits of upto Rs. 3500/- on the entry level Honda. The increase in the cost of petrol should have increased the demand for the CB Twister, which comes out to be a very fuel efficient motorcycle. Is the motorcycle division of Honda going the car division way? Sooner or later, Honda’s monopoly will come to an end if they don’t correct their pricing and production issues in the country.
