The Tata Aria is an excellent attempt by Tata Motors to go premium. However they failed and miserably at that with poor sales of the Aria Crossover. Some thought the pricing was too optimistic, while others chose a brand over the Aria. Tata wants to mend stuff and a price decrease is the best thing to do to boost sales of the MPV. Thus the 4×2 version is slated for launch next week, which would only be available in Pleasure variant. A picture of the Aria two-wheel drive was posted on Facebook but does not mention 2WD anywhere, so how do we conclude it is indeed the Aria 4×2 that we are seeing in the picture above. Simple, just look at the Pleasure badge on the boot. The 4-wheel drive versions has 4X4 Adapterra written above the front wheel arch (pictured below). The Aria Pleasure 4×2 will get all the features of the 4×4 variant minus the all-wheel drive configuration.

Tata Motors is offering the 2-wheel drive layout only in the base Pleasure variant and will not dilute the Aria from its key positioning. Tata Motors has positioned the Aria as the first crossover in India and thus wants to market the car aggressively against the Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Captiva. The base Aria (Pleasure) also features airbags, ABS, EBD, dual AC, projector headlights, audio controls on steering wheels, etc. The price difference between the 2WD and 4WD variant is unknown but we estimate atleast Rs. 1 lakh separating both the versions.
