Mahindra EV charger policy revised, making company-supplied charger optional
Mahindra has introduced a revised policy regarding the charger and installation process for its upcoming electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Under the new policy, customers can now opt out of purchasing a company-provided charger, which was previously a mandatory component, provided they meet certain conditions.
For those who do not qualify under the specific conditions, Mahindra continues to offer two AC charging options: a 7.2kW charger priced at Rs. 50,000/- and an 11.2kW charger available for Rs. 75,000/-. Buyers of the BE 6 and XEV 9e will be required to purchase one of these charging units unless they meet the criteria to forgo it.
Mahindra BE 6
The Mahindra BE 6 is available in multiple variants, with the top-tier Pack Three version featuring a larger 79kWh battery pack. This variant can be fully charged in approximately eight hours when using an 11kW charger, while the 7.2kW charger requires 11.7 hours to achieve a full charge.
Lower variants of the BE 6, from Pack One to Pack Three Select, come with a smaller 59kWh battery. Charging these variants takes around six hours with an 11kW charger and approximately 8.7 hours when using the 7.2kW charger.
Mahindra XEV 9e
The XEV 9e shares the same battery pack options and charging configurations as the BE 6. Consequently, its charging times remain identical across both the 79kWh and 59kWh battery versions. However, unlike the BE 6, the XEV 9e does not offer a Pack One Above variant.
Launch and Deliveries
Mahindra has scheduled the deliveries of these electric SUVs to commence by mid-March. The revised charger policy aims to provide buyers with greater flexibility while ensuring seamless charging infrastructure for those who opt for company-supplied solutions.
