Suzuki is set to launch its first electric scooter during the festive season

Suzuki is preparing to enter the Indian electric two-wheeler segment with the launch of its first electric scooter, the e-Access. The new model, which made its debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo, is expected to hit the market around August or September — coinciding with the start of the festive season, a period when demand for vehicles typically sees a significant boost.

The e-Access, Suzuki’s first electric offering for the Indian market, was showcased at the recent mobility event where it attracted attention from both industry experts and potential customers. However, the company refrained from disclosing the scooter’s pricing, indicating that the final cost would only be revealed closer to the official launch.

The e-Access is equipped with a 3.07kWh lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a claimed riding range of approximately 95 km per charge. According to Suzuki, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in about five hours, which places it in line with many competitors in the segment.

In terms of design, the e-Access follows a straightforward approach, balancing functionality and aesthetics. While it doesn’t aim to stand out as a radical design experiment, it focuses on practicality — a trait that could appeal to a wide range of urban commuters.

Once launched, Suzuki’s electric scooter will enter a competitive space currently occupied by established models such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta and Ola S1. It will also face competition from the upcoming Honda Activa e, which is expected to play a strong role in shaping the electric scooter landscape in India.

With the festive season often bringing increased consumer interest and purchases, Suzuki is likely aiming to leverage this period to maximise the e-Access’ market impact. The coming months will reveal whether the brand’s first electric venture can carve out a space for itself in India’s rapidly evolving EV market.
