Fiat will not be launching any new car in India in 2011. However the Italian automaker plans to be very aggressive in 2012, by launching facelifts of both the Linea and Grande Punto, followed by a small car. The small car is been developed at Fiat’s Italy R&D center in Turin, with inputs from Fiat’s Indian engineers in Delhi. The small car will have 85% local content and will be manufactured at the company’s facelity in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The Fiat small car will be positioned right below the Grande Punto and will be similar in size the Palio. It will feature both petrol and diesel engines and will be priced between Rs. 3-5 lakhs, helping Fiat increase its revenues through volume sales.
