Hyundai Creta 1.0 Flex Fuel front

Hyundai discreetly showcased the Flex Fuel version of the Creta. With this version, the Creta will get the functionality to run on even pure ethanol known as E100. This type of fuel is available in South American markets where the preference for ethanol-powered vehicles is high.

Engine

The Hyundai Creta 1.0 Flex Fuel Version runs on the smaller 1.0-litre turbo GDI motor that produces 120 HP and 172 NM of torque. It sends power to the front wheels via a DCT transmission. This engine and transmission combination is also seen in Venue and i20. There were no unique features on the Hyundai Creta Flex Fuel version. The only visually noticeable change on the engine is the Flex Fuel Technology badging on the engine cover! The engine gets various internal changes to make it run on even E100 ethanol fuel as well as currently available E10, E20 and E85 fuel.

Future Prospects In India?

While Hyundai hasn’t revealed the plans to launch the Creta 1.0 Flex Fuel in India, the possibility of an ethanol-powered vehicle is fascinating for the increasingly electric future. The option of switching to ethanol may become an appealing prospect in the minds of car buyers and enthusiasts who like the mechanical sounds and thrills of a combustion engine car.

Due to the renewable nature of Ethanol, the possibilities are endless when it comes to enjoying ICE vehicles. Not to mention, ethanol fuel can be readily available at existing fuel stations so the need to spend on infrastructure is also diminished. The Hyundai Creta 1.0 Flex Fuel may just be a showcase, but it has given new hope to red-blooded car enthusiasts who don’t like electric cars.
