Tata Sierra Front

Tata Motors unveiled the production-ready Sierra ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) concept. This means a return of the iconic Sierra nameplate to the Indian automotive market. This revival is a blend of nostalgic design elements with contemporary features designed to cater to modern SUV enthusiasts as well as fans of the older generation of the Sierra.

Styling

The Sierra ICE concept retains the same overall shape seen in the concepts before the Auto Expo. However, this time the concept is showcased in a very bright shade of yellow. The distinctive silhouette of its predecessor is reimagined after featuring an upright fascia with a wide LED Light Bar spanning across the front end. The headlights are stacked upwards which keeps the Sierra in tune with the Tata’s current design language. The side profile has rectangular windows, flush door handles and dual-tone alloy wheels which are massive, while the rear is adorned with connected LED tail lights and a pronounced skid plate, emphasising its SUV stance.

Interior

The interior will be equipped with a four-spoke steering wheel and a triple-screen setup. The interior will have amenities such as ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety Features

Tata Motors is known for its crash test safety ratings and safety features. We expect the Sierra to standard safety suite of 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake and Level 2 ADAS.

Powertrain Options

The Powertrain options were not revealed but we expect the Sierra to offer two engine options. A 1.5-litre four-cylinder Turbo Petrol Engine delivering 120 HP and 280 NM of torque as well and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Diesel producing 170 HP and 350 NM of torque, similar to the engines used in Tata Harrier and Safari models. Transmission options are anticipated to include a 6 Speed Manual or a 6 Speed Torque Converter Automatic.

The Tata Sierra is set to launch in India in 2025. The old Tata Sierra was an icon with its macho and adventurous design. It remains to be seen how the buyers receive the Sierra in ICE and EV forms. However, the most fascinating aspect would be the stiff competition the Sierra would face from the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq when it goes on sale later this year.
