Exterior Design
The new Amaze adopts Honda’s latest family design language, drawing cues from the Elevate SUV and City sedan. The front fascia features sleek chrome trim, LED DRLs and a hexagonal grille. The bumper design and fog lamp surrounds closely resemble the City, while the overall sharper profile is accentuated by a prominent character line running across the sedan’s length.
The wing mirrors have been repositioned to the door for a modern look, and the dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels enhance its aesthetics. The rear is reminiscent of a mini City with similarly styled tail lamps and a clean bumper design. The Amaze is available in six paint options: Obsidian Blue Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic.
Interior Features
Inside, the dashboard is inspired by the Elevate’s design, featuring an 8-inch free-standing touchscreen, semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch MID and multi-function steering wheel. The centre console includes wireless charging, USB ports and cup holders. A unique textured finish on the dashboard panel and a dual-tone black-and-beige theme with silver highlights add sophistication.
The Amaze comes equipped with:
- LED projector headlamps and fog lamps
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Auto climate control
- Push-button start/stop
- Rear seat armrest and AC vents
- Three-point seat belts for all occupants
- Connected car features
Safety features include six airbags, lane watch camera, hill-start assist, traction control, ESC and Honda Sensing ADAS, making it India’s most affordable car with an ADAS suite. However, the absence of a sunroof might deter some buyers.
Performance and Dimensions
The Amaze retains the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic with paddle shifters. It delivers 90 HP and 110 Nm of torque, slightly more powerful than the Dzire, but with marginally lower torque. Honda claims fuel efficiency figures of 18.65 km/l (manual) and 19.46 km/l (CVT).
The sedan is now wider and taller, resulting in improved cabin space and enhanced comfort. Boot capacity stands at 416 litres, and Honda has upgraded the AC system for better cooling performance.
Market Position and Rivals
The new Amaze will compete with the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Unlike its competitors, the Amaze does not offer a factory-fitted CNG option, which could impact its appeal. CNG models dominate sales in the compact sedan segment, contributing over 50% of Dzire’s and 80% of Aura’s sales.
Conclusion
The all-new Honda Amaze brings a fresh design, upgraded features, and safety enhancements to the compact sedan market. While its lack of a CNG variant might limit its reach, the introduction of advanced features like ADAS at an affordable price could attract buyers looking for a technologically advanced and stylish sedan. Test drives have begun, providing customers an opportunity to experience the updates firsthand.
