Under the hood, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 115 HP and 178 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Skoda claims the Kylaq can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 10.5 seconds. The top-spec Prestige automatic variant also features paddle shifters, adding a sporty touch.

Features Across Trims

  • Classic Trim: This entry-level variant is equipped with six airbags, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and all-LED lighting. However, it does not offer an automatic gearbox.
  • Signature Trim: Key features include 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls and rear AC vents.
  • Signature+ Trim: Enhancements include a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch virtual cockpit display, climate control, a rearview camera and power-folding mirrors.

Warranty and Special Offers

The Kylaq comes with a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever is earlier. Additionally, the first 33,333 customers will benefit from a special maintenance package, reducing the running cost to Rs. 0.24/km, according to Skoda.

Competition and Market Positioning

The Kylaq enters a highly competitive segment, rivalling the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon. Skoda aims to carve its niche with a blend of feature-rich offerings, a turbocharged powertrain and competitive pricing.

With bookings starting today and deliveries scheduled for early next year, the Kylaq looks set to attract significant attention in the compact SUV market.
