A flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated logo, along with switchgear shared with the XUV700, provides a familiar yet premium feel. The vehicle is also equipped with an electronic parking brake, drive modes, and brake-by-wire technology. It offers a 665-litre boot and a 150-litre front storage compartment (frunk).

The top-spec variant of the XEV 9e includes premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a heads-up display (HUD) and advanced safety features including 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and blind spot monitoring. The entry-level Pack One variant offers a simplified set of features, including 6 airbags, a reverse camera, an electronic parking brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also includes a three-screen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, 4 speakers with 2 tweeters, push-button start, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and various seat adjustments.

Battery and Charging

The Mahindra XEV 9e is available with two LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh, both built on the INGLO platform. Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery packs. The company claims that the batteries can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger.

The 79kWh battery offers an MIDC range of 656 km, while the same battery provides a 533 km range based on the European WLTP cycle. Mahindra also stated that during real-world testing, the XEV 9e delivered a range of over 500 km on a full charge.

Performance

The XEV 9e features Mahindra’s compact three-in-one powertrain comprising the motor, inverter, and transmission. The 79kWh version comes with a 286 HP motor delivering 380 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, achieving a 0-100 km/hr time of 6.7 seconds. The smaller 59kWh unit is powered by a 231 HP motor.

Mahindra claims the XEV 9e is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, as well as a brake-by-wire system, allowing the SUV to brake from 100 km/hr to a complete stop in 40 meters.

With its premium features, impressive range and distinct styling, Mahindra’s XEV 9e aims to be a strong contender in the electric SUV segment.
