BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe facelift gets mild cosmetic changes and more features
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe facelift revealed, marking four years since the model’s original launch. The updated model brings a refreshed design and a suite of new features, in line with BMW’s latest offerings. Production will take place at BMW Group’s Leipzig plant, with the global market launch set for March 2025.
Design Updates
The facelifted 2 Series Gran Coupe showcases a significant visual overhaul, aligning its design more closely with newer BMW models. The front fascia now mirrors that of the latest 1 Series, featuring sleek oval-shaped headlamps and a smaller kidney grille, which has become a hallmark of the brand’s evolving design language.
While the car retains its familiar silhouette with a flowing roofline and short overhangs, BMW has slightly increased its dimensions, adding 20 mm to the length and 25 mm to the height. The rear end also receives updates with new tail lamps reminiscent of those on the 1 Series.
Interior Revamp
Inside, the facelifted 2 Series Gran Coupe undergoes a complete redesign, featuring BMW’s Curved Display. This setup integrates both the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster into a single, seamless bezel. The central console has also been reworked, with updated air vents and switchgear. Standard features include BMW Live Cockpit Plus and ventilated seats, adding to the overall comfort and convenience.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the BMW Driving Assistant as standard, offering advanced safety features such as front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, exit warning, and Speed Limit Info. Parking is made easier with the inclusion of a Parking Assistant and Reversing Assistant.
Powertrain Options: Petrol and Diesel Variants
Under the hood, the 2 Series Gran Coupe offers a range of petrol and diesel engines. These include a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine in the 220 variant, producing 170 HP and 240 Nm of torque. The M235 variant comes with a more powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 300 HP and 400 Nm. On the diesel side, the 218d is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 150 HP and 360 Nm. The 220d variant pairs the same diesel engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology for enhanced efficiency. For certain markets, such as the US, BMW will offer the 228 variant, which delivers 241 HP and 295 Nm.
Indian Market
The outgoing 2 Series Gran Coupe is currently BMW’s most affordable model in India, with prices starting at Rs. 43.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). While the facelifted version is set for a global debut in 2025, Indian customers can expect the updated model to arrive sometime later next year.
