Kia Syros spotted testing ahead of launch, interior details revealed
Kia Syros has been spotted in testing once again, providing a closer look at some of its interior features. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia India’s lineup, the Syros is set to become a key player in the competitive compact SUV segment. The vehicle will reportedly offer both petrol and electric powertrains, marking a significant step in Kia’s push towards electrification in India.
Interior Design Revealed
The latest spy images offer a glimpse into the Syros’ cabin, showcasing a modern and premium design approach. One of the standout features is the new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a first for Kia vehicles in India. This steering wheel design, which includes an offset Kia emblem, seems to draw inspiration from the recently unveiled Kia K4 sedan and other models in Kia’s global portfolio.
Another highlight of the interior is the dual-display setup, reminiscent of what is offered in the Kia Seltos. The Syros is expected to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, providing a seamless and high-tech interface for the driver. Physical controls, including a scroll wheel for volume adjustment, are positioned below the touchscreen, blending functionality with the sleek design.
Features and Powertrain Options
In addition to its modern interior, the Syros is expected to come equipped with a host of features that align with its positioning as a lifestyle SUV. Previous spy shots have hinted at several premium features, such as a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, and full-LED lighting with vertically arranged LED DRLs. The SUV is also likely to include diamond-cut alloy wheels, ventilated and powered front seats, multiple drive and traction modes, climate control, leatherette upholstery, and a Bose audio system.
The Syros will be available with both petrol and electric powertrains. While the petrol variant is slated to debut first, the electric version is expected to join the lineup roughly six months later. Both variants will share the same platform and are expected to feature a front-wheel drive configuration exclusively. There is also speculation that a hybrid version might be introduced in the future, further expanding the Syros’ appeal.
Launch Timeline and Expected Pricing
The Kia Syros petrol variant is anticipated to launch towards the end of this year, with sales commencing in early 2024. The electric variant, on the other hand, is projected to hit the market by mid-2025. Pricing for the Syros is expected to be slightly higher than the Kia Sonet, which currently starts at Rs. 8 lakhs (ex-showroom).
